When they heard that Louisiana Boys State was going virtual in 2021, former Citizens and Counselors Dr. Nicholas “Nick” McCullough (LABS 2009) and 1st Lt. Johnathon “Johnny” Price, US Army (LABS 2014) stepped forward to ask what they could do to support the program. When they learned that a virtual program required an online platform to centrally host and coordinate activities, they volunteered to help sponsor its cost.
Donating respectively at the Patriotism and Service levels to sponsor the online platform, Nick and Johnny supported Louisiana Boys State’s return in 2021 after the 2020 session was cancelled in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their involvement and support helped ensure that even in a virtual setting, LABS was as impactful and rewarding for Citizens as it is during traditionally held in-person sessions. Due in part to their generous support, LABS 2021 was an outstanding success, receiving praise from Citizens, parents, program counselors, and members of the American Legion for its engaging and informative structure and the ease with which Citizens were able to access it virtually.
Nick attended LABS in 2009 and served as a counselor and staff member from 2010-2016. He currently lives and works in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.
Johnny attended LABS in 2014 and served as a counselor from 2015-2019. He currently serves as an active duty officer of the United States Army stationed at Fort Hood in Texas.
